Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Ferryhills volcano - geograph.org.uk - 1008413.jpg |
English: The south end of the recently strengthened and repainted Jamestown Viaduct, south of Inverkeithing on the Edinburgh - Fife line opened with the Forth Bridge in March 1890, is seen from the bus turning circle during a quiet moment at the Ferrytoll Park & Ride. At the great gash in the hillside beyond, trains cross the caldera (main vent) of a hopefully long-extinct volcano, the granite rock resulting from which has provided much work for a major quarrying company. |
