Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe ELT's basecamp (dji-20240605185119-ang).jpg |
English: This group of buildings in the Chilean desert is actually the basecamp for staff working on ESO's Extremely Large Telescope ([elt.eso.org ELT]), as captured by drone footage in June 2024. Located at the bottom of the ELT's home on Cerro Armazones, in the Atacama Desert, Chile, this basecamp features dormitories for construction staff, an area to pre-assemble the beams that will eventually join the ELT structure, and even a small sports pitch. The ELT is expected to complete construction later this decade. |
