Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Dome venue in Morcambe, Lancashire.jpg |
English: The Dome Venue for concerts with a small fun fair behind. This area of the prom used to be the site of The Super Swimming Stadium at Morecambe. It was the longest outdoor pool in Europe in its day being 110 yards long. It had a 30' diving board and a 16' deep diving pit. It was the long time venue for 'Miss Great Britain' contest. The pool was open air and I recall (I worked there as a lifeguard) seeing a sign in the foyer one high summers day 'The water temperature today is 52 degrees'. No wonder it's gone! |
