English: The Deerhurst barge at Barnstaple. The Deerhurst, along with two dumb barges, the Apperley and the Bushley, used to transport grain on the River Severn between Sharpness and Healings Mill at Tewkesury. The barges were ordered by Healings in 1933 and built by Charles Hill & Sons of Bristol. Two larger barges, the Chaceley and Tirley, were ordered in the 1970s, these were moored beside Healings Mill until March 2007 249485 when they were sold after the mill closed. See also 1356698
In the background is the new Taw Bridge which was opened in 2007. |
