English: The Dam at Killypole Loch. In 1773 Charles MacDowall of Crichen invited James Watt to design a canal to carry coal from Drumlemble to Campeltown. In 1783 work on Watts canal began. To provide water for the Canal, Killypole Loch was enlarged and banked, the water being led into Rhudal Burn, and thence to the Canal near West Drumlemble Farm. |
