Description |
English: The Czartoryski Salting Carpet. The whole field is surrounded by a narrow strip with the Persian inscription: "How many flowers are here, how many colors spring develops fresh on these flowers, so much for you your people wish you happy years", dedicated to the Shah, probably Tahmasp I, reigning in the years 1524–1576. A composition with the motif of animals fight, floral and floral ornaments, and above all, an analogous narrow border with a Persian inscription containing wishes for good luck for the Shah, connects the carpet from the Princes Czartoryski Museum with two so-called imperial carpets donated by the Tsar of Russia Peter the Great to Leopold I Habsburg, now in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (43.121.1) and at the Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna (T8334). The carpet belonged to the Sieniawski family and was kept in the Puławy Palace, until around 1809 it was deposited in the Gothic House. It was probably captured at Vienna in 1683 by the Crown Field Hetman, Mikołaj Hieronim Sieniawski, and together with the rest of the spoil it became the property of Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski, great-grandson of the hetman. Zagrabiony przez Niemców podczas II wojny światowej, odzyskany w roku 1946. Wool, silver and silk thread. 170 x 245 cm. Isfahan, first half of the 16th century. Czartoryski Museum MNK XIII-2047
Polski: Kobierzec. Całość pola otacza wąski pas z napisem perskim: „Ile tu kwiatów, ile kolorów świeżo na tych kwiatach wiosna rozwija, tyle ci życzą ludy twoje lat szczęśliwych”, dedykowanym szachowi, zapewne Tahmaspowi I, panującemu w latach 1524–1576. Należał zapewne do zdobyczy wiedeńskiej z 1683 hetmana polnego koronnego Mikołaja Hieronima Sieniawskiego i wraz z pozostałą częścią łupu przeszedł na własność Adama Kazimierza Czartoryskiego, prawnuka hetmana. Looted by Germans during the Second World War, but later recovered in 1946. Wełna, nić metalowa srebrna, nić jedwabna. 170 x 245 cm. Isfahan, pierwsza połowa XVI w.
