Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe County Stone - geograph.org.uk - 54384.jpg |
English: The County Stone. This historic Stone, almost 2000 feet above sea level, has for almost one thousand years marked the meeting point of the three Counties, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Westmorland.
The photographer is standing in Yorkshire and looking westwards. Behind the wall, another wall runs up from the left at a sharp angle to the Stone. To the right of this wall it is Westmorland, while to the left is the most northerly tip of non-Furness Lancashire - and thus the most northerly bit of Lancashire still administered by Lancashire County Council. |
