Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Calder Memorial Fountain, Belfast The Calder Memorial Fountain, in Albert Square beside the Custom House, was erected in 1859 in memory of Commander Calder RN, founder of the Belfast Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. After a long period of neglect it has been restored and even has running water (but no cup) again. This area was close to the old quays and would have had a considerable number of carriers using horses and carts to transport goods to and from ships.
