Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Black Lion Hotel Named after the badge of Queen Philippa of Hainault, wife of King Edward III, who gave the Friars the right to hold the Friday Market. The Black Lion is one of the oldest houses in Little Walsingham, the northern part (on the right) was built to accommodate Edward III (1327-1377) who made many pilgrimages to Walsingham. During the 17th century it became a coaching inn and in the 18th century, the Petty Sessions were held there before moving to the Shirehall in 1861.
