Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Benglog Pill Box - geograph.org.uk - 239314.jpg |
English: The Benglog Pill Box. Another part of the Snowdonian 'Maginot Line' aimed at halting a German invasion. The building is reputed to have begun life as a smithy for shoeing cattle which were being driven to the English markets. Later it was used as a sheep shelter. With the fear of invasion, the building was requisitioned by the MOD, a few stones knocked out of the walls to make firing holes and a machine gun or two installed - all in the pious hope of halting an advancing panzer corps. |
