Text booksand magazine articles on the subject were read and re-readand included writings by experienced and well-known workers.The variations in procedure of different authorities, especiallywhere one condemned what the other recommended, wassurprising, and the only thing to do was get busy to decide thehow and why for ones self. The results of numerous exper-iments are given in the following paragraphs, and whiledetails may seem many, as well as the process somewhatcomplicated, the reader is earnestly requested to give thisprinting medium a trial. After a few prints are made thesimplicity of the work will assert itself, and the beauty ofthe finished picture will be well worth the efifort. In cases where the negative is extremely thin withno deep shadows or heavy high-lights and which produces aprint gray in tone, it will be difficult to produce a Bromoil.Extreme care and patience will produce a successful result,but a beginner is not urged to try such a print until exper-ienced to some extent. The Paper, The general opinion regarding this material is that allgrades or makes with the exception of Platino-Matt can bemade to give good results, but even this surface will be foundsuitable by proper handling. Heavy, double weight stock isrecommended, due to the fact that it will retain the mostmoisture. Thin papers are very liable to dry out beforeinking is completed, resulting in uneven, patchy work. Ofall the grades or makes tried, my own choice is P. M. C. No.8. This is a heavy weight buff stock with a surface andthickness of gelatine very much suited for ink
