after the negativehas been developed the grain on the positive is obtained by in-terposing the film screen in the positive printing frame betweenthe negative and the positive plate. Second: With this process it is not necessary to have anegative glass plate. The negative from which the positive isto be grained can also be on a film if so desired to preventbreakage, or for any other reason. Third: The screen on glass must be ruled with great pre-cision and pains, and for that reason glass screens are veryexpensive, besides they wear out after a while from rubbingor manipulating and of course breakage. This is obviated bythe film screen. Fourth: The film screens can be made by any one them-selves where and when required, and any size of grain, whilethe glass screens are so difficult to make that only people whomake a specialty of it can make them, and it is well knownthat there are only comparatively few manufacturers whomake them, in fact there is I believe only one kind of screen 128
