Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Abbey Church of Dunfermline. The text on the tower, which has one word on each side, reads "KING ROBERT THE BRUCE".

The Abbey Church is a fusion of two distinct buildings; the nearer (western) part, built from 1128 onwards, is the older of the two; the eastern part is more recent, while the tower, commemorating the interment of the bones of King Robert the Bruce in the abbey, dates from as late as the nineteenth century. On that interment, see also: 977440.
