Inscriptions ‘‘Alarm’ 193 tons, built in 1830’
Notes A painting of the yacht ‘Alarm’ shown here as a cutter. The ‘Alarm’ was one of the most famous of the early Squadron yachts. She was built by Thomas Inman at Lymington in 1830 for the famous yachtsman and landowner Joseph Weld of Lymington and Lulworth Castle, Dorset. She continued racing until 1867 and was not broken up until 1889.
