Description

A British Rail Class 158 "Express Sprinter" diesel multiple-unit (or DMU) is seen approaching the station at Dingwall in the north of Scotland. It's journey from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, situated on the west coast close to the Isle of Skye is a very scenic one.

The line passes mountains, sea lochs and remote villages and is highly rated on Tripadvisor. It's possible to do the whole round trip in one day and I recommend it! The journey takes 2 hours and 40 minutes each way and as you travel towards "Kyle" through the spectacular scenery it's not unusual to see wild deer close to the line.

As you can see it's possible to carry bikes and pets on the journey. If you look closely at the driver you will see he has water, milk and (I think) a coffee all ready to use.
