Description Creator: Unknown Date: 1930 Format: Photograph Collection: Kodak Collection at the National Media Museum Inventory no: 1990-5036/6012/0016 Blog: Happy Australia Day A snapshot photograph of the Fifth Test between England and Australia played at Sydney, Australia, taken by an unknown photographer in 1930. Crowds watch English batsmen Wooley and Hearne scoring a run. Originally a shooting term, the word 'snapshot' was first linked with photography in the late 1850s, when it was used to describe a photograph taken with a brief exposure. Over time, snapshot came to mean any amateur photograph taken with a simple camera. Snapshots are informal, personal records of everyday life and experiences.
