Description

Templo Veracruz Carballiño. Basada en un proyecto del arquitecto Antonio Palacios Ramilo el 26 de Junio de 1943 se coloca la primera piedra y se empiezan las obras bajo la tutela del maestro cantero carballinés Adolfo Otero Landeiro, terminándose la rotonda en 1946, año en el que se empieza a construir el arco parabólico de los DoceApóstoles, obra del maestro cantero Jesús Carballido. En 1949 comienzan las obras de la torre, que se prolongarían, tras detenerse y reiniciarse de nuevo en 1956, hasta Julio del año siguuiente, año en el que concluirían. Con la torre todavía sin acabar, se abre oficialmente el templo el 17 de Septiembre de 1952, festividad de San Cibrán, patrón de la ciudad.

Construida en su totalidad con materiales de la comarca, en especial granito y pizarra, este templo representa la obra más grandiosa y representativa de la villa.
