Description
English: "Temple Of Vishveshwur, Benares," lithograph, by the Anglo-Indian scholar and mint assay master James Prinsep. Dated 1834. Courtesy of the British Library, London. The image is that of the Gyanvapi mosque, which is believed to have been built after the destruction of the Kashi Vishwanath temple ("Temple of Vishveshwur") at the site. The remains of the temple can be seen in this picture.
