Summary
[edit]DescriptionTelengits.jpg |
English: "The drawing represents a group of Altaians of the Teleuts (Telengites) tribe, roaming mostly in the valley of Chuya, Chulyshman and sometimes on Lake Teletskoye. Until 1869, they paid tribute to Russia and China, and therefore were called dvoedants. In general, Altai foreigners are often called Tatars or Kalmyks by their similarity in clothing and external environment. They are divided into several genera, and each genus is governed by a "zaisan". Their way of life is nomadic, they are mainly engaged in cattle breeding and less often in arable farming. The general type of face is flat, expanded in the cheekbones, narrow eyes, wide nose, drooping lips, yellowish-gray-brown complexion, black hair. Men have a cropped head, and their hair is left on the crown and braided into a pigtail, to which ribbons are braided. Women have two large braids, girls have several braids with colorful ribbons" - Pavel Mikhailovich Kosharov |
