Description
Deutsch: Megiddo (hebräisch מגידו) war in der Antike eine Stadt im nördlichen Israel. Die militärische Bedeutung des Ortes und seine Rolle als militärisches Schlachtfeld spiegeln sich in der Apokalypse des Johannes im Neuen Testament. Armageddon, abgeleitet von „Har Megiddo“ (der Berg von Megiddo), erscheint dort als der Ort der biblischen Endschlacht zwischen Gut und Böse (Off. 16,16).
English: Tel Megiddo (Hebrew: מגידו‬; Arabic: مجیدو‎, Tell al-Mutesellim, "The Tell of the Governor") is an ancient city whose remains form a tell (archaeological mound), situated in northern Israel. Some Christians believe that Armageddon will be the site of the final battle between Jesus Christ and the kings of the Earth who go to war against Israel, as outlined in the Book of Revelation.
