Tectonic subdivisions of the North American craton, including its Archaen nuclei and Proterozoic fold belts and basins

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Tectonic subdivisions in the North American craton. Platform areas where the craton is exposed are hatched. This map is based on Hoffman (1988), Williams et al. (1991), and Gorbatschev and Bogdanova (1993), except that it is updated with information from more recent sources, especially for the platform areas and the extreme margins in the Canadian Arctic, the Yukon, Alaska, and Greenland. Greenland is shown in a position before the opening of the Labrador Sea and Baffin Bay around 60 million years ago, based on St-Onge et al. (2009).
