Description
English: Wooden carved door displaying the coat of arms for the Māori kings (Te Paki o Matariki) at the Māori meeting house Te Māhinārangi at Tūrangawaewae marae in Ngāruawāhia, which includes a depiction of the constellation Matariki (Pleiades). The Paki o Matariki symbol belongs to the Tainui Maori King Movement (Kingitanga), and is used on buildings, properties and correspondence belonging to the Kingitanga. The central circles represent the creation of the world. The left hand figure represents Aitua (misfortune), the one on the right Te Atuatanga (spirituality).
