Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Computer simulation of the tidal disruption of a one solar mass star by a one million solar mass supermassive black hole, performed using the Phantom general relativistic smoothed particle hydrodynamics code. The snapshot shows the star spaghettified into a long thin stream, which self-intersects due to relativistic precession, causing material to plunge towards the black hole and generate strong outflows which ultimately smother the black hole.
