English: The castle of Häme was, according to tradition, founded by Birger Jarl in connection with the so called second crusade to Häme in order to consolidate the Swedish empire in this part of Finland. In the area, there where many older ancient castles which lost their importance after this and where abandoned.
Svenska: Tavastehus slott grundades enligt traditionen av Birger Jarl i samband med det s.k. andra korståget till Tavastland för att befästa det svenska väldet i denna del av Finland. I trakten låg många äldre fornborgar som därefter förlorade sin betydelse och övergavs. |
