| Description |
English: Tarrant Gunville: finger post This finger post has replacement fingers (the originals would have had rounded ends) but it does retain the original Dorset finial which gives location details and grid reference. Unusually, this one does not have the standard six-figure grid reference, which is ST926127 - it says 392 112 which is (3)92 (1)12, the 100km gridsquare.
The finger pointing right contains an error - it is Everley Hill that is 2½ miles from here and not, as suggested, the church. The church is only a few hundred yards away. For an example of the same 'error' for one half of the grid reference, but not for the other, see 1318911. |
