Summary
[edit]DescriptionTalking wall - geograph.org.uk - 1441355.jpg |
English: Talking wall A woodland walking path links the House of Falkland and the Pillars of Hercules at the north end of Falkland Estate. Alongside a straight section of this path is a dry stane dyke which has the name of the Talking Wall because it 'talks' (in broad Scots) about all the things that folk walking past it might be doing. This stone, the northernmost of the series, carries the word BURLIN which simply means 'hurrying along'. But if you do hurry along this wonderful wall you are liable to miss some of the other inscriptions its stones carry, which would really be rather a pity. |
