This is the Bopomofo and Cangjie layout on a computer keyboard in Taiwan

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In Taiwan a lot of people still use Bopomofo oder Zhuyin Fuhao instead of Hanyu Pinyin as phonetic transcription for Mandarin Chinese. It's a semisyllabary with onsets and rimes as well as diacritics for the 5 tones in Mandarin Chinese (including the neutral • tone). According to the traditional Chinese syllable structure the keyboard layout is divided into 3 sections: on the left side are the initials or onsets (most of the pure consonants, marked with lighgrey background), on the right side are the rimes/rhymes (golden) and in the middle are the medials (lightgreen). The medials and the rimes (including the tones) make up the finals. The tone marks are marked with a yellow background here. The layout (diagonally from top left to bottom right) is as followed:

ㄅㄆㄇㄈ bo po mo fo; ㄉㄊㄋㄌ de te ne le; ㄍㄎㄏ ge ke he; ㄐㄑㄒ ji qi xi; ㄓㄔㄕㄖ zhi chi shi ri; ㄗㄘㄙ zi ci si (these 7 symbols can be stand-alone syllables)

ㄧㄨㄩ yi/i wu/u yu/ü (medials/stand-alone vowels or rimes when at the end of a syllable)

ㄚㄛㄜㄝ a o e ê (for ㄧㄝ or yie ㄩㄝ or yue); ㄞㄟㄠㄡ ai ei ao ou; ㄢㄣㄤㄥ an en ang eng;

ㄦ er

The 26 Chinese characters below are used for CangJie, an input method based on the shape of the characters.

ㄚㄛㄜㄝ a o e ê (für ㄧㄝ oder yie ㄩㄝ oder yue); ㄞㄟㄠㄡ ai ei ao ou; ㄢㄣㄤㄥ an en ang eng;

ㄦ er
Die 26 chinesischen Zeichen darunter sind für die chinesische Eingabemethode CangJie.
