Notes | The custom of eating at the high or principle table in the great hall or manor was gradually being abandoned. In fashionable homes people dined at smaller tables in smaller rooms and for additional convenience a table was invented which could be folded, it became known as the gate-leg table and is still great success in design. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
