Halifax Public Gardens, Spring Garden, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Much the same as when it was first built in 1887, the Public Gardens' bandstand is the scene of free jazz, blues, and brass band concerts every Sunday afternoon from June through September. It's centrally located in the Gardens and surrounded by flower beds arranged in a radiating, geometric pattern. The old Horticultural Hall, at right, actually predates the Gardens: it was built in the late 1840s as the home of the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society. It now houses a location of Uncommon Grounds, a local chain of coffeehouses. Jardins publics d'Halifax, Spring Garden, Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse. Lo mismo que cuando se construyó en 1887, el quiosco de música de los Jardines Públicos es el escenario de conciertos gratuitos de jazz, blues y charanga todos los domingos por la tarde desde junio hasta septiembre. Se ubica en el centro de los Jardines y se rodea con macizos de flores dispuestas en un patrón radiante y geométrico. La antigua Sala Hortícola, a la derecha, es de hecho anterior a los Jardines: se construyó al fin de los años 1840 como el hogar de la Sociedad Hortícola de Nueva Escocia. En la actualidad alberga un lugar de Uncommon Grounds, una cadena local de cafés. |
