Located off the Atlantic Coast of the southeast United States, the storm briefly intensified between September 2 and 3, but by the time this image was acquired by the Aqua satellite, the intensification had halted. At the time this image was taken, the storm was packing winds of up to 70 miles per hour On Wednesday afternoon, September 4, the storm was 50 miles east of St. Augustine, Florida, and packing winds of up to 40 miles (65 kilometers) per hour. The storm is expected to hit central Florida by Thursday morning. |
