Français : TOURNAI (Doornik) — Caserne Saint Jean
Historique : "En juin 1667, Louis XIV s'empare de Tournai après un siège de 5 jours. Très vite, il décide de faire de Tournai un bastion avancé de la France. Des casernes sont construites au frais de la ville pour y loger la garnison. La première pierre des casernes Saint-Jean fut posée le 1er juillet 1673 par la reine Marie-Thérèse, épouse du roi Soleil. La construction des casernes est confiée à Josse de le Winghe, un Maître-maçon de la ville. Les travaux se terminèrent en juin 1679. Les casernes serviront, l’une à la cavalerie et l’autre à l’infanterie. Nederlands: In 1667 greep Lodewijk XIV Doornik . Al snel werd besloten Tournai tot een gavanceerd bastion van Frankrijk te maken. Van eerste steen van Sint-Jan kazerne werd op 1 jul 1673 gelegd door Marie-Thérèse, van vrouw van de Zonnekoning.
