Description

Designer:- A.A.Morozov Manufacturer:- Factory No.75, Kharkiv Built:- 1944 to 1947 Total Production:- 1,823 In Service:- 1944 to 1960s Main Armament:- 85mm ZiS-S-53 tank gun. The T-44 was designed as a replacement for the T-34-76, but with improved ride and cross-country performance and using an 85mm main gun. However, by the time the T-44 had completed testing the T-34 was also using the 85mm gun and with both tanks having similar performance it was decided to concentrate on T-34 production instead. Only 1,823 T-44s were built and the type did not see combat. On display in what is best known as Hall 2 of the Kubinka Tank Museum, although its official title is now Pavilion 2 in Area 2 of the Park Patriot museum. Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
