| Description |
English: Swayambhunath is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. The temple complex suffered serious damage in the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. The two bullet-shape temples (shikra) stood on each side of the stupa. Anantapur on the left collapsed in the earthquake, while Pratappur on the right (wrapped in green net and scaffolding), which survived the earthquake with partial damage is now being demolished for reconstruction. |
