English: Sweet onion is a variety of onion that is not pungent. There are several varieties of sweet onion. All onions have sugar; sweet onions do not have significantly more sugar than other onions, but they have a very low sulfur content compared to typical onions, and their water content is comparatively very high. These differences reduce their pungency, which makes their sweetness more noticeable.
