Summary
[edit]DescriptionSwans on the Moon - geograph.org.uk - 1051860.jpg |
English: Swans on the Moon Most residues from the kilns that extracted oil from West Lothian shale were piled high in the well-known red bings but in one area of Broxburn, between Greendykes Road and the Union Canal, the waste appears to have been scattered higgledy-piggledy to create a moonscape on Earth. However, its very isolated nature, unappealing to humans, makes a pool of water that has collected in its midst attractive to a pair of swans. Believe it or not, planning applications have been submitted, though not yet passed, for housing developments in this vicinity. Should you bring your own spaceship so that you can blast off for somewhere more amenable? |
