Description
English: Inle Lake, a freshwater lake in the Shan Mountains in eastern Myanmar, has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding biodiversity and rich cultural heritage. However, the lake's surface area has decreased significantly in recent years due to the expansion of floating farms, mainly used to grow tomatoes. This image acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 on 8 November shows Inle Lake and its floating farms. Copernicus supports the monitoring of such important ecosystems, providing crucial data for their conservation and sustainable management.
