Summary
[edit]DescriptionSunday Morning Creek Canyon (Seminoe Mountains, Wyoming, USA) 4.jpg |
English: The Seminoe Mountains of south-central Wyoming are cored by Precambrian basement rocks (igneous and metamorphic rocks), with structurally-tilted Phanerozoic sedimentary rocks along the southern flanks of the range. The northern margin of the range is bounded by a major fault. Thrust faulting occurs in the southern and southwestern Seminoes. These mountains are in the Central Rockes (= Middle Rockies), which were uplifted during the Laramide Orogeny in the late Mesozoic and early Cenozoic. Seen here is Sunday Morning Creek Canyon, where Precambrian metakomatiites crop out. The rocks are part of the Bradley Peak Ultramafic Series.
Locality: Sunday Morning Creek Canyon, northern side of the Seminoe Mountains, northern Carbon County, south-central Wyoming, USA Example references: Hausel (1994) - Economic geology of the Seminoe Mountains Mining District, Carbon County, Wyoming.
