Description |
English: The new outpatient department of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Bolsover Street, central London was opened In 1927. Mounted on the waiting room's (hall) wall were a remarkable series of murals painted by Katharine Anne (Nan) West, daughter of the hospital’s chairman, Henry West. These images which cover over 90 square metres, bear witness on a grand scale to the prevailing aspiration to restore a social function to art. Source: BMJ 1998;317:1736
