Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A locally-constructed wooden pedestrian bridge spanning the Kesen River in the Town of Sumita, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Made with walnut and chestnut wood piles, the bridge parts are anchored to the shore with wire and are collected and reconstructed whenever flood waters on the river wash it away. The bridge dates from the late 1600s in the Edo period.
