I had never even heard of this model of Subaru before I spotted this one! Must be seriously rare now, and I don't think there are any in the UK. I think this is a Leone, also called the Subaru 1400 and 1600, but I'm not a hundred percent certain. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Whatever it is, it's a great looking typical 70s Japanese car, and I think it looks fabulous in orange! It's a colour you very rarely see on cars nowadays. Looked in great shape, but sadly is one of the many abandoned cars dotted around Greece in the wake of the economic crisis. If this was in the UK, I've no doubt it'd be snapped up in no time at all, but here the future looks bleak for it. Parked outside a metal recycling plant never looks promising for cars... If this is indeed a Leone, it was produced from 1971-81. It doesn't look much like the Wiki pictures, but I couldn't find any more Subaru models which looked anything like this one... This is actually the only Subaru of any age I've seen in Greece (apart from that equally unusual 600 a few weeks ago). Any more information would be much appreciated! |
