Title
Stud with millefiore - detail.
Description
English: Copper alloy stud inlaid with enamel and glass. Decorated with concentric rings of inlaid red, blue and white enamel and millefiori glass, each ring is separated from it neighbour by thin bands of copper alloy. The designs are mostly floral with a band of blue "tree/feather" motifs on a white background. The front of the stud has been damaged and is cracked (possibly in the ground), approximately a quarter of the front is broken and missing (estimated original diameter of the stud face: 61.07mm). The stud post is incomplete (remaining length: 12.33mm, diameter: 5.06mm) and the break has the same coloured patina as the surface. Paul Booth suggested that the post may have originally been twice as long.
