Summary
[edit]DescriptionStriated Bulbul Facts 02.jpg |
English: The Striated Bulbul (Alcurus striatus) is a distinct bird characterized by its well-marked features and bushy crest. Sporting an olive-green hue above, it boasts a pale yellow throat and prominent white streaks across its dark breast and pale belly. This species thrives in foothill and submontane regions, particularly in broadleaf forests, whether evergreen or deciduous. Its foraging habits are typically observed in the forest canopy, often alongside other bulbuls.
While resembling the Mountain Bulbul to some extent, the Striated Bulbul stands out with its bushier, more erect crest, darker upperparts, and noticeable streaking on the underparts. Despite not being particularly vocal, it emits various chirps, warbles, and chips, occasionally stringing them together into a loose "song" characterized by short, distinct phrases. This was photographed at Neora Valley, Kalimpong district, West Bengal, India |
