Summary
[edit]DescriptionStratford Depot geograph-2378770-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Engines in the Locomotive Yard at Stratford Depot. View southward, showing three of the innumerable locomotives which were lined up on many sidings at Stratford in the open air, seemingly haphazardly, in the extensive general area around the Sheds and New Works. Most of the engines of the 400 or so belonging to the Depot were ex-Great Eastern types: here we have Hill J68 0-6-0T No. 68642 of 1912 (beside it a man is looking suspiciously at me), then Holden J15 0-6-0 No. 65361 of 1885; on the left is Holden J17 0-6-0 No. 65507 of 1901 heading another string of similar locomotives. (See also TQ3884 : Typical N7 class 0-6-2T at its home, Stratford Locomotive Depot). (Stratford International Station now occupies the site). |
