Summary
[edit]DescriptionStrange paper decorations and a small white building - geograph.org.uk - 363483.jpg |
English: Strange paper decorations and a small white building The little white building near the head of the Rhondda Valley used to be known as "The Watchman's Shed" and housed the person who was employed by the council to clear any rocks and debris that fell from the cliffs above the road. The last watchman (George Cole) started the tradition of decorating the area around the shed with paper flowers. Today, the rocks are prevented from falling by metal webbing strung along the cliff face and the watchman is no longer required but the tradition of placing the paper flowers is maintained by the local Pen Pych primary school. |
