Deutsch: Strandhafer (Ammophila arenaria) und Strandroggen (Leymus arenarius) sind zwei verschiedene Pflanzenarten. Da sie in den Weissdünen oft sehr eng beinander wachsen und sich sehr ähnlich sind, sind sie auch schwer unterscheidbar. Ein gutes Unterscheidungsmerkmal sind die Blätter. Diese sind beim Strandhafer sehr schmal, oft nur 3 Millimeter breit. Zudem sind sie sehr oft der Länge nach eingerollt, wie eine gerollte Zunge oder ein der Länge nach aufgeschnittener Strohhalm. Das kann man sowohl gut sehen als auch mit den Fingern ertasten. Demgegenüber sind die Blätter des Strandroggen nie eingerollt und meist über 10 Millimeter (1 cm) breit. Auch sind die Blätter des Strandroggen deutlich erkennbar bläulicher als die des Stradhafers. Den Strandroggen nennt man daher auch blauen Helm. Die Aufnahme entstand auf der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge, am Dünenübergang auf Höhe des Cafe Neudeiches. Am Horizont erkennt man im Nordosten die Windturbinen des Windparkes Nordergründe, Teil der sogenannten Energiewende weg von fossilen Energien hin zu regenerativen Energien.
