DescriptionStraining-muscled nude (male).Wittig collection - item 30 -- drawing.reference photograph 01.JPG |
English: Drawing of a straining-muscled male nude, in a "hyper-anatomical" style; with muscles highly emphasized (& perhaps departing from anatomical accuracy). His eyes are bulging & distended, & only lightly sketched in. Full-length, standing, side-view.
The drawing is executed in charcoal and white chalk on blue, laid, watermarked paper; size is 59.7 cm. by 38 cm., unframed. Condition is good; some scattered dirt throughout, sides slightly damaged, corners and right side show traces of folding. Dutch School of the Empire Period, academy art; circa 1800. Private collection, fam. Wittig et cie.. This upload made possible by Olivia Kathleen. |
