Description Stokes Hill Wharf was badly damaged with a large loss of life in the major Japanese air raid on 19 February 1942. The raid is commemorated at the Esplanade War Memorial every February. The Darwin Wharf Labourers hold their own service at the wharf which begins with the sounding of this air raid siren at 10am.
