Description
Whitehorse, located along the Yukon River, was a stopping point for many prospectors who traveled via steamship to reach the gold fields during the Klondike Gold Rush. The "Governor Pingree" (also known as the "Bonanza King") and another unknown sternwheeler appear on the left side of the photograph. The "Governor Pingree" was built in Seattle in 1898 by the Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging Co. and originally operated by the Boston & Alaska Transportation Co. A tent with the sign "White Horse Saloon" appears at the right.; White Horse City. [Symbol.] No. 607.; General Whitehorse location provided.
