English: Title: Stephen R. Whitney

AGED MEN EMPLOYED IN THE GOVENMENT DEPARTMENTS IN WASHINGTON WHO WILL BENIFIT [sic] BY THE RETIREMENT BILL. Stephen R. Whitney, age eighty three, appointed in 1881 to the records division of the Pension office. Mr. Whitney is a decendent [sic] of the inventor of the screw propellar [sic], and father of the idea of launching a flower boat each year on May 30th.
