Description

Stegastes leucostictus (Müller & Troschel in Schomburgk, 1848) - beaugregories.

The beaugregory is a variety of damselfish. Juveniles are brightly colored with blue, yellow, and near-black (see first two clips in video). Adults are brownish-colored (see last clip in video).

The adult in the last part of the video is displaying territorial defensive behavior - it repeatedly charges the snorkeler.

Classification: Animalia, Chordata, Vertebrata, Actinopterygii, Perciformes, Pomacentridae

Locality: just west of North Point Peninsula, eastern Graham's Harbour, northeastern San Salvador Island, eastern Bahamas
